This is my first novel and the first in the series which was inspired by a quote from Albert Camus. No Better Alibi s a story about a quest for the truth and a rescue mission that will bring two brothers and their friends face to face with death and destruction. Theirs is a future where things can only go from bad to worse. A future where nothing, not even life itself, is sacred.
No Lesser Evil
No Lesser Evil is the gripping action-packed sequel to the dystopian thriller No Better Alibi in which the seekers become the sought. The story follows the aftermath of the actions of JJ and his friends as their struggle against the all-powerful Society for the Protection and Welfare of the Nation, SPAWN, continues.
About Andrew Donaldsson
Andrew Donaldsson is my pen name, my real name is Dr Donald A J Brooks. I am known by many as Don and by a few from my younger days as John. I have had a varied career having studied at university in London and then Nottingham where I went on to teach mathematics before serving in the eighties as an RAF Officer. After a short spell in industry, I worked for the Ministry of Defence before seeing out my career in senior management roles in Further Education. During my career, I have written engineering texts, sports coaching manuals, and I completed my Doctoral thesis way back in 2001. Having been an accomplished sports competitor and coach I also wrote a series of articles published in a local evening Gazette in the late nineties on training for and competing in the London Marathon. As I was nearing the end of the field research for my first non-fiction book focused on grassroots coaching the lockdown put the project on hold. However, inspired by a quote attributed to the French philosopher Albert Camus I read in a newspaper article, I embarked on a new project and set about writing No Better Alibi. I have now completed No Lesser Evil and together they form The Struggle Against SPAWN series.
